Birth Certificate Translation

Do you need your birth certificate translated from Spanish into English for your Australian visa or Australian citizenship application? The cost for a full translation varies depending on the country of issue.

Do you need to translate your Australian birth certificate, or any birth certificate issued in the English language, into Spanish to submit to the Spanish authorities? Maybe you need to register the birth of your child with the Spanish consulate or authorities, maybe you have dependents you would like to add to your Spanish visa application, or maybe you are applying for Spanish citizenship for yourself. If so, you have come to the right place. Make sure you apostille your document, if required, before sending it through for sworn translation (traducción jurada). 

The cost for a sworn translation of a birth certificate issued in English, whether from Australia, New Zealand, the US, the UK, the Philippines or any other country that issues certificates in English, is AUD $65. The cost for the translation of apostilles is AUD $25.

Spain only accepts full translations of birth certificates.

Some countries issue birth certificates that run over several pages. If this is your case, an extract translation of only the most important information is probably more suitable than a full translation. In many cases, such as for Australian visa applications, an  extract translation by a NAATI Certified translator is sufficient. Extract translations are cheaper at AUD $55.
Spain does not generally accept extract translations of birth certificates.

Most Australian and New Zealand officials will accept digital translations certified with the NAATI digital stamp. Most Spanish officials will accept  sworn translations certified by a traductor jurado with their digital signature, but you can also check to be sure.
